About

LACT Studio is me. Mostly.

I paint on the ground: large abstract work in paint and water on raw, unstretched canvas. The brushes were my grandmother’s. I love buying the paint samples people return to Home Depot, the colors someone else decided were wrong. Whatever turns up that week has a surprising amount of say in what I end up playing with. Pink is my lifeline. It’s in every piece, no matter how small.

Sometimes a piece starts, or even finishes, with the flying paint my three-year-old will scatter. You may or may not find small footprints in the work, from my daughters or from Fox the dog; her poor fur is sometimes an unnatural color, depending on where she ran off to. Hence the ground: the paintings are susceptible to all the life in our home.

Everything here is an original; I couldn’t paint the same one twice if I tried.
